A Farmer's Transition

Alan farmed dairy, pigs, sheep and poultry for over 70 years. Retirement did not signal an end to a lifetime in farming. Instead, it sparked a new chapter where Alan’s wealth of agricultural knowledge found expression in a different medium – chicken coops. With a heart full of passion borne from years tending the land, he now creates shelters that uniquely combine function, durability, character and charm.

Exquisite Design Features

Alan has been making coops by hand from his garage workshop for over 15 years.

Alan's coops combine practicality with a unique heavy-duty design:

  1. Fully Tannalised, Side-Walls. All coops are finished with fully tannalised, 14mm tongue and groove timbers. These weather-resistant materials stand the test of time and provide a robust framework for lasting comfort of feathery inhabitants.
  2. Mite-Resistant Roof. A corrugated bitumen roof provides a mite-resistant shield against the elements. A safe-haven from wind, rain, and unpredictable weather.
  3. Heavy, Rat-Proof Floor. A solid, 20mm timber floor provides the foundation of every coop, designed to resist unwanted intruders. The heavy, rat-resistant floor also contributes to wind resistance, helping coops remain steadfast - even in exposed locations.
  4. Hinged Door, Lifting Hatch, and Easy-Access Side Nest Box. User-friendly features simplify daily tasks. A large hinged door allows easy access for cleaning. An adjacent lifting hatch reinforces access to corners. The hinged side nest box provides convenience for caretakers and nesting hens alike.
